Thank You, Senator Grassley!

July 23, 2011

Thank you, Senator Grassley, for your support of the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act of 2011.  Good speech from the floor too.

Showmanship 2
“Showmanship” Assessment, Saturday 7/16/2011

I watched these young men and women from rural Iowa participate in this “showmanship” event at the county fair.  As they were putting the animals they had raised through their paces, the judge had them switch to handle someone else’s animal.  This change produced no discernible change in behavior.  These young people demonstrated a level of personal integrity that gives me great hope for the future of our nation.  I hope their parents were proud!

… Let’s “Git er Done!

Go See The Undefeated!

July 8, 2011

If you scan down the right hand side of the blog to my “Flikr Photos” section, you will see the cellphone pictures that I snapped from my front-row vantage point at the premier of “The Undefeated” in Pella Iowa on the 28th of June. You can also see a video of the Governors comments after the premier on

I have, of course, spent some fair amount of time ruminating about the content of The Undefeated, since I saw it. First off, I can’t encourage folks strongly enough to see this movie when it come out for the general public July 15th.

This movie documents the decisive leadership of Governor Palin that enabled her team to confront the oil companies that had been sitting on their oil leases for over thirty years, reckoning that the oil would be worth more to them later than now. She and her team built a case and prevailed to get things moving. Both as Mayor of Wasilla and, later, as Governor of Alaska, she fearlessly confronted corruption in the system and cleaned house! The residents of the state of Alaska rewarded her with an 80% approval rating. In my opinion, Governor Palin is exactly the type of leader that we need in the White House!

During the closing portion of the movie, the reasoning behind the Governor’s stepping down from office was addressed. In a nutshell, her team decided that it was in the best interest of Alaska to step down and thereby put a stop to the endless stream of frivolous lawsuits being brought by the contingent on the radical left.

After the movie screening in Pella, Andrew Brightbart made a statement in which he basically accused the males of the Nation of being “eunuchs” for not standing up for the Governor during these attacks.

After these few days of reflection, I have come to belive that Mr. Breitbart is absolutely correct. We need to see the crisis in our nation for what it really is; equivalent to the stand that Washington took that Winter at Valley Forge. Will we stand and fight, or will we let the other side win though their methodical application of Saul Alinsky’s (Rules for Radicals) tactics as adopted by President Obama’s political machine?  I find it absolutely unconscionable that the courts of our nation will stand to be be used as an assault weapon against innocent citizens.  We must not stand for this abuse any more!

So, what’s it going to be? Will we stand together in victory, or lie down in apathy to our defeat?  Let’s make General Washington proud!

Post Script:  It seems information on the AMC corporate website is in short supply.  I can’t really answer why that would be, but here is a link that lists the cities where The Undefeated is opening on July 15th:
